How to score thrift store finds

I have been in love with fashion for as long as I can remember. In elementary school, I wanted to be a fashion designer. My big sister even bought me a sowing machine that was the cutest color blue. I fell in love. I shared my love for fashion and sowed a a floral dress that I forced my little sister to wear because I made it too small for myself. There’s a picture somewhere out there of my cute little sister in that floral dress.

My journey with thrifting goes farther back than the start of my sustainability and minimalism journey. I got into thrifting because my big sister showed me it was a cheap way to expand my wardrobe and at the same time get unique clothes. However shopping at second-hand stores just used to be something I did every once in a while, now my approach to thrifting has completely changed.

Now the thrift store is the first thing that comes to mind when I am looking for something. I thrift alone or with friends for clothes or home decor. It’s a wide array. Lately, I have been hitting gold! So much that for my white wedding this month I went thrifting for my new obsession for this spring season. I found these great additions to my wardrobe from Plato’s Closet and Goodwill.  Now I won’t waste another second to show you all these dresses and share some rather exciting news with you all.

There’s a moment in my thrifting experience where minimalism intertwines. Basically what happens is every other week or so I clean throughout my apartment to see if there are things I need to donate or sell. Once I find things I want to donate I go to my local Goodwill or Savers store, drop of my donation, and get a 25% coupon from Goodwill or a stamp on a Savers punch card to eventually get a store discount. It’s a great way to get a reward for getting things out of your home, helping a charitable cause, and getting a discount as you support the store a second way by shopping for things you actually need.

As my love for fashion continues to blossom and my joy for thrifting continues to grow, so does my desire to do more. I want to take my love and appreciation for thrifting to the next level. I am happy to announce that I am now offering eco-stylist services. My eco-stylist services are mainly focused on secondhand fashion specifically thrifting. Yes I enjoy thrifting so much I want to be your thrift stylist and shop with you!

The purpose of this new service I’m providing is to provide individuals a way to a more sustainable shopping experience while growing individuals’ sense of style.

I look forward to embarking on this new extension of A.Y.O. This is a unique chance for me to connect with people in a new way while showing others the benefits and joy that comes from thrifting.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, I am no longer offering in person thrifting experience. But I couldn’t leave you all hanging so I created the Guide to Becoming a Confident Thrifter: Clothes Edition. It has the gems of an in person experience with me but instead you can take it every time you thrift to reference! For a great price, I can help you score more #thriftstorefinds and feel less overwhelmed thrifting.

Who’s ready to becoming a confident thrifter?
