11 Asian Influencers in Sustainability

Compelled by the hashtag #stopasianhate and Asian hate crimes happening across the United States, I put together a list of confident and creative Asian women that are carving their own space in sustainability. I want to be a part of spreading appreciation and support for the Asian community, not tearing it down or or worse off being a bystander out of fear. I do not want to condone the behaviors of these people inflicting hate and harm onto others.

As I have continued to be in the sustainability space, I have seen a more conscious effort to elevate BIPOC faces and businesses in the movement. I believe this is an incredible thing and a necessary one. I am so happy to see this intentional elevation of the movement by so many. Here are eleven Asian women in the sustainability space boldly carving their own path and sharing their Asian experience with the world.

  1. Jihea Kim @ecolifechoices
  2. @nanayandmethrift
  3. Selina Sanders @selina_sanders
  4. Ming D. Liu @mingdliu
  5. Shirley Mak @classifiedcloset
  6. Tori Tsui @toritsui
  7. Elizabeth @Zerowastecutie
  8. Cat @cookiecat.herine
  9. Sophia Li @Sophfei
  10. Gabby Sage Masuda Ambata @gabrielasage
  11. Mariko Sandico-Lee @marikoashley

Similar to my Top 15 Black Zerowaste Influencers and 13 Hispanic Sustainability Influencers list this is just a beginning place, launching pad to the Asians in the low waste/zerowaste/sustainability movement. There are so many more out there! I encourage you to use this list as a connector. Once you explore one of these women use it to connect with other Asian people in this lifestyle and let it grow from there!

There are diverse people with all shades of skin putting their own spin, doing their part, to living a sustainable lifestyle.

Share other Asians you know in the sustainability movement in the comments below!
